Annotated Bibliography
My annotated bibliography gave me many interesting points of view that I did not even think about going into this paper. They showed the recession point of view, the company point of view, the student point of view, and the school point of view that deals with internships. I also decided that I am going to go in depth about internships in my research paper because that is one thing that will affect most everyone in college. I will also now go into more detail about the recession and how it affects jobs and internships for students.

Group Topic
My group consisting of Valerie, Glenda, and Dan decided that we are going to observe the library. We will focus on the social aspect of the library such as what types of activities people do when in the library. I would also like to see the way people act in the library. It would be interesting to see if they will talk or just stand there awkwardly. It would also be very interesting to see what type of people go to the reference desk for help and see what types of questions they ask. I am excited to see what things happen in the library.

Annotated Bibliography Reviews
Today in English, we peer reviewed each of our group's annotated bibliography first drafts. I learned that mine was very sub-par due to the lack of sources I was able to find. In doing this, I learned I should probably change my topic for the RESEARCH paper due to the lack of RESEARCH that has been done and is available to me now. What a day.

WE LANDED ON THE MOON!
I believe that we did land on the moon in 1969 partly because my elementary school was named Neil A. Armstrong and if we did not go to the moon it puts my entire education in jeopardy. I also believe we went to the moon because we have learned that there is nothing beneficial on the moon or else we would have gone back. I one day would like to go to the moon and believe that it has happened before.

The Day of the Library Visit
Today in English, we visited the library. Honestly, we went over the same stuff today in the library as we did on my visit last semster in English 104. The information is very helpful and can lead to much better research. I learned more specifically how to use the EBSCO search which seems to be my favorite.
February 9
Today in English, we looked at a variety of internet sites. The plan was to cite these websites using the new MLA format. The biggest problem I encountered was selecting the right type of source it was. There were many that were alike but we eventually completed the assignment towards the end of the class. My group worked very well together.
Conference
In the conference, i learned that my paper was on the right path. There were slight errors that needed correcting such as switching do and due. I also did not have the right type of sources for what my paper needed. Another thing that needed work was the way I cited my sources. I also needed to lengthen it so I included things I cancelled out for the upcoming research paper. All in all the conference was very helpful even though I first went to the wrong place.

Peer Review-Topic Proposal
Today in English, we peer reviewed our small groups papers and gave advice on how to improve them. I learned that my paper was not really what the topic proposal is meant to do. I wrote more of a narrative story leading into my topic rather than directly talking about my topic. I am still unsure if I will be able to write four pages on what I want my research topic to be. I am sure I will figure it out.
Tuesday, January 26, 2010
Today in English, we discussed more about the topic proposal paper due in two weeks. We went more in depth about what we needed to do for the paper. After we were done discussing the upcoming paper, we went to the writing center. Once there, a tutor talked to us about what they do at the writing center. I learned that you can get a one-on-one session with these tutors and they will help you with any aspect of your paper for any class. It is highly likely that I will attend the writing center to help with with papers in not only English class, but also any other class needing a paper.

My Topic
Since at college, I have noticed how the only spending money I use on things other than academics comes directly from the funds I have obtained over the summer. As my funds become less and less, I asked myself how people with houses and apartments pay for rent. Do their parents pay for it? Do they take out student loans? Did they make enough money over the summer? There are many possibilities for spending money in college, but I want to know how people make their money while at school. From throwing huge keg parties charging five dollars a cup to donating plasma, how does everyone do it? This is what I am going to research.

Syllabus Blog
The syllabus that we received on Tuesday was very informative. It covered all of the course requirements and goals hoping to be obtained throughout the duration of the course. It was very specific as to the attendance policy and about late work. It also described the assignments we will be doing over the year and how much they will be worth. The thing I appreciated the most about this syllabus as opposed to all of my other syllabi this semester was that our schedule was put on there with when assignments are due. This will help immensely as the semester progresses because it will enable me to get organized and remain on task. As far as I can tell, the syllabus given was very informative and to the point.
